SATURDAY’S CLUB CONTESTS PUZZLING CONDITIONS CHANGING LIGHT AND WIND Rifle club members had puzzling conditions to contend •with on Saturday, both light and wind being changeable. The result of the shooting was as follows ! PETONE CLUB The Petone Rifle Club fired the final shoot in the first series oh Saturday, the ranges being 500 and 600 yard*. There was an excellent attendance, and some very keen shooting considering the changeable light and wind, which at times were puzzling. Some competitors, however, by careful observation and good. judgment, put their shots well in the centre of the target. At 500yds, H. Mitchell and E. Craggy (a visitor) each totalled 4s, closely followed by V. Broughton, E. Ballinger, T. Warburton, and H; Rule, with* 47 eachv, At-600yds A. Ballinger, the "old-timer*" showed the way with 48—a very fine score—A. O'Donnell (46) and R. H. Nicholl. (45) being next. -• The 6poon winners-were A. Ballinger, in A; H. Mitchell, in 11; and F. Kershaw, jun., in C division. The change-over from mark vi. to mark vii. ammunition is at present giving some competitors. some cause for 'anxiety in the adjustments required. The ranges next Saturday, will be two shoots of 10 rounds at BCO yards. SUBURBS CLUB On Saturday the Suburbs Rifle, Club fired the first match of the second series at 700 and 800 yards. Conditions were fairly good. Considering the “use of a small bull’s-eye some good scores were registered. H. ’Myerqcough with 44 at 700 iVards and H. Hunt 44 at 800 yards were the best single range scores. R. E. Hester 43'.and 40 was the best total off the rifle. Following are the detailed scores:—

KARORI CLUB The Karon Rifle Club Bml its second match in the championship senes on Saturday, the conditions beiqg 10 shots at 500 and 10 shots at GOO yards. At 500 yards F. tiling and A. VI Swanson each scored 49 out of 50. the best score at 600 yards being a 48 by R. Caughley, who with 46 at 800 made top Score for the day. C. B. OLD NAVALS CLUB The Old Naval Defence Kifle rlr.b continued their programme at Trcntham on Saturday, firing for t lie championship S.R. aggregate and second 'r-ories over ranges 500 and (UK) yards. The conditions were good for firing, but only moderate scoring was done by the majority of members. The bc.-t gun score wa-> made by R. Sneddon • t-Ti at cacli range. Deputy-President Goldfinch made 40 at 600, and Rifleman Kelly secured top place with his handicap of 6 points President Standidge’s team won the Martin challenge badges with n score m 335 points; Rifleman Carter's team being runners-up with 3Ci.
