BOARD LEAVES ON TOUR ELIMINATION OF CROSSINGS TO VIEW PARAPARAUMU The Main Highways Board held its usual monthly meeting at the Government Buildings, Wellington, on Thursday, Mr C. J. McKenzie presiding. In reference to the elimination of railway crossings the board resolved that immediate steps be taken to proceed with the deviation in the Weka Pass in North Canterbury, for the purpose of eliminating tho deviation in the Pass. In the afternoon tho board saw representatives of the Hutt County Council, when various matters of local interest were discussed, including the question of the council's contribution towards the elimination of the level crossing at Paraparaumu and also the alignment of the main highway to the north of Lower Hutt. TTie board left on a tour of the central districts of the North Island yesterday morning, beginning by viewing the road from Lower Hutt northwards. On its return via the "West Coast, it will take the opportunity of inspecting the Paraparaumu crossing and discussing on the ground the question of a contribution by the council.

The board was also interviewed by the representatives of the Wellington Automobile Association, when various matters, particularly tho question of road signs, were brought before the board’s notice. Several other matters which the board will have an opportunity of looking into on its tour were also brought forward by the representatives of the association.
