RAILWAY ACCIDENT
TWO NAVAL MEN SERIOUSLY INJURED STRUCK BY TRAIN AT TRENTHAU. Shortly before eight o’clock last evening two leading stokers, Robert Stanley Church (official number 401), aged 23 years, and James Hastie (4i6), aged 23 years, from H.M.S. Diomede now in port, were admitted to the hospital. The former was suffering from a fractured right leg, while Hastie has a fractured skull and jnw. It appears that both the injured men. were riding on a motor-cycle across tho Trentham crossing when the 5.13 train from Wellington struck them. Late last evening Hastie was reported to be in a serious condition, while Church was progressing satisfactorily.
