HAVOC AT WESTWARD HO!
Tho famous Devon beauty spot, Westward Hoi celebrated bv Kipling and Kingsley, is suffering from coast erosion. 'lhe sea hns made a breach in the Pebble Ridge, which protects the golf course, and is threatening buildings near the beach. The picturesque quay at* Appkdore is flooded at high tides, and water enters the front doors of dwellers by the sea.
Subscriptions are being, asked for locally to cope with the difficulty, and one day every year the inhabitants assemble to fling back the large pebbles which havo been- hurled inland by the sea.
In a year or two, according to pessimists. the Royal North Devon Golf Chib will havo to change its title to the Royal North Devon Boating Club’.
