COMPETITORS AT LEVIN RACES GETTING READY FOR FEILDING. (“Times” Correspondent.) WANGANUI, November 19. The Hawera trainer, J. Fryer, lias been laid up with an attack of lumbago, but is on the improve. L. Pine will have a mount on Rouex in the Levin Cup to-morrow and A. McCormac will be on Nukumai. Maurice Conway has quite recovered from the injury he received at Wavorley, and is riding work at Hawera. Avola went amiss at Christchurch, and will be on the easy list for “some time. W. Pine intends taking Killoch, Partaga and Sunshot to Ashhurst for the meeting next Wednesday. Killoch is to contest the hurdles. F. Corlett is to have the mount. The weather was fine yesterday morning for training operations. The track was in good order and several smart gallops were registered. Bent (J. Head) and Elysianor (W. Mitchell) had a spin together over six furlongs, the former being in front at the end in 1.16}. Bent has improved greatly in appearance lately, and now looks better than ever. Elysianor is coming on nicely and should be in good fettle for the Feeding meeting. Deluge (W. Rayner) and The Thorn (.T. Head) were associated in a spin over half a mile, the former being well dear at the end, and pulling hard in 495 see. The two-ycnr-olcl Thaw, ridden bv
J. Head, and Lysander (W. Rayner) were companions in a sprint over three furlongs. The youngster was up with Lysander at the finish, the time being 36 3-ssec. Since returning from Auckland Lysander has bad an easy time of it, this ebing his first fast spin, and he is a bit above himself. It was a good performance, however, on the part of Thaw, as he was going nicelv at the end of the journey. He will be a runner in the Nursery Handicap at Feilding. Mr Geo. Currie has both The Thorn and Lysander engaged in the Feilding Stakes. The latter will not start if the going is soft. If he does go to the post he will have to carry 101 b penalty.
Civility is looking and going well, and slipped over six furlongs nicely in 1.15 J. from a flying start. At a meeting of the Waverley Racing Club a letter was received from the club?s representative on the Date Committee expressing surprise at the Minister’s action in not giving the Waverley Club * permanent extra day when it had been recommended by the Dates Committee and conference! The club was advised to push the matter, and it was left in the hands of the chairman and secretary to write to the' chairman of the Racing Conference. At New Plymouth yesterday Hipo assisted by Oration over the hist four, ran seven furlongs in lmin 32sec. He will contest the principal race in Levin to-morrow.

Trainer W. Dwyer, who recently underwent a double operation in a pri. vate hospital at. Palmerston North lias made a wonderful recover, and is expected to be home again next "Wednesday.
