LABOUR CABINET JOLTED
MR LOUGHLIN RESIGNS, AND WILL NOT RECONSIDER WILL VOTE WITH OPPOSITION DEFEAT OF MINISTRY AND DISRUPTION OF PARTY POSSIBLE By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. (Received November 18, 8.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, November 17. Mr P. F. Loughlin, Secretary for Lands, caused consternation in the State Cabinet by resigning his portfolio. Efforts were made to- get him to reconsider his decision until the Parliamentary Labour Caucus discussed the position, but he declined. It is stated in the lobbies of the Legislative Assembly that he may cross the floor of the House, in an attempt to defeat the Government, and then form a Country Labour Patty.
It will be recalled that Mr Loughlin, before the present session of the New South Wales Parliament opened, only just failed to attain the leadershiD of the Government Party. The Caucus voted, and a tie resulted. In the circumstances it was decided that Mr Lang should not be displaced.^
