VISIT BY MR HUGH WARD VISITOR THRILLED WITH VIEW FUNDS FOR PLUNKET SOCIETY IVIr Hugh Ward, who is such a keen supporter of the Plunket Spciety, paid a visit to the children’s ward of the Public Hospital yesterday. Be was escorted by the Riev. H. Van Stavern, Mr E. W. Hunt (president of the notary Club) and Mr H. Amos (secretary of the Rotary Club). .On arrival at the hospital. he was received by the matron (Miss Stott), Mr C. M. Luke (chairman of the Hospital Board). Mr ■T, Coyle (secretary to the board), and Dr Wilson (medical superintendent). Mr Ward wfi s particularly interested in the wnrd which bears his name. The kiddies evidently realising that their yisitnr had once been connected with the stage, joined in a chotms of wqlroMe. which, although sung txl. a e’edley of keys, was greatly appreciated. HOSPITAL Later., the party dfove up to the new Kiifitarie hospital, on the Melrose heights, and to Sir Trubv King’s home. Here they were met by Sit Truby. and were joined bv lifiss Wnrd (secretary to the Wellington Plunket Sopiety), Messrs 8, A. Longuet. J. R. McKenzie, and Mr Gray Young, the architect for the n6w building. Although the nCvV hospital (which is to be opened hy the Duchess of York) is' not finished yet, the visitors were able to get a good idea of _ what the finished building will took like, Mr Ward was particularly taken with the marvellous view to he obtained’ from the building. To uSo his own words, hf was “thrilled.” Sir Truby then, entertained everyone at his house, which has a view superior even to that obtained from the hospital. Before leaving. Mr E. W. Hunt thanked Mr Ward oil behalf of all present, for his generous efforts in connection with the Plunket Society. PLUNKET SOCIETY EXECUTIVE A meeting of the executive of the Plunket Society (which was attended In-. Mr Ward) wap held later in the afternoon. Mr J, D. McGowan was in the chair. Others present were Miss SVnrd, the Rev. E. R. Weeks. Dr Herbert-, Dr .7. S. Elliott. Messrs H. Amos, W. Gray Young, F. W. Hunt, S. A. Longuet. At this meeting Mr Ward put forward several excellent suggestions for obtaining funds for the Plunket So. ciety. .
