“THE WILDERNESS WOMAN” COMMENCING TO-DAY. Commencing at the Paramount Theatre to-day is “The Wilderness Worn- ‘ an,” the story of a girl who came ■ from the rocky fastness of Alaska into the “sbocky fastness” of Broad-way—-out of ’ iqeland into laveland 1 The plot Is excellent and the scenery gorgeous. Aileen Pringle, Lowell Sherman and Chester Conklin have the featured roles. Miss Pringle appeal* in.her first character oomedy rote, bringing |
a pew and refreshing personality to the screen. Lowell Sherman, instead of appearing in his customary role of tbe heavy, walks off with the laurels of the hero in “The Wilderness Woman,” while Chester Conklin, the wal-rus-moustached comedian, is afforded plenty of opportunity to get in his iaughahlb work. Not the least important character in the piature is a year-old bear. Miss Pringle, in her role of the Alaskan miner's daughter, brings the animal with lier to New York, and the complications that foSflw must be seen to be appreciated. Robert Cain and Henry Vibart also have' important parts in the picture. The story was adapted from the original by Paul Bern and Paul SchoI field, and directed by Howard Biggin. -Altogether, it is one of the finest films ever presented at this theatre. The supporting bill consists of a gazette, a scenic and a comedy. The Paramount orchestra will be heard in many tuneful numbers. The box plan is at the Utility Stationery Shop.
