Bed got in a beautiful long shot, made the lest hoop (Ngaroma 23. Eastbourne 15), then laid for her partner’s turn. Black to blue. Yellow scored (Ngaroma ?4. Esstbourae 15), separated to opponents and laid for hpr partner to peg out. Bine to black. Ngaroma pegged out. (Ngaroma 26, Eastbourne 15). The Eastbourne players were at a decided disadvantage, as the green was much larger than they are accustomed to, but nevertheless, they made some beautiful shots, and the experience gained upon plsyipg on the larger lawn will be to their advantage. ITEMS OF INTEREST The date for the seventh annual tournament has been advanced from Tuesday, February Bth, 1927, to Thursday, February 3rd, 1927, in order that any players returning from the Dominion tournament at Palmerston would be able to participate in tho Iocs) tourney without any waste of time. The fawns placed at the disposal of the association for ' the tournament are five from the Kelburn Club for the first week, and three subsequently, Wellington end Karori are both lending two. The tournament committee is comprised of the following members : —Mesdames Austin (Kelburn), Rhodes Williams (Karon), Bennett (Ngaroma), Wilkinson (Ngaroma), Hendry (Wellington), Scott (Hataitai): emergencies. Mesdames Rickard (Wellington), McDowell (Kelburn), Hain (Mount Victoria). Some slight alterations have been made in the conditions of tbe various events in the Wellington open championship; for Instance, only player? of 4} bisques and under can compete, and in the lady- associate championship the restriction regarding this event being confined to local players only has been removed, and it >» now open to all lady player* In the Dominion, providing they are an associate of the New Zealand Croquet Connell. ~ . A new event has been added, entitled the Association Plate, for players who have been defeated in the open championship and in the lady associates championship In the first two rounds. This event will give these players an additional Interest In the tournament. In the handicap doubles and singles the time limit has been abolished, in--tesd the shortened game will bo played viz., starting at the third hoop.
