CONCERT AT OHIRO HOME
A most enjoyable concert was given at the above home on Monday, 15th inst., the items being so well given it would be invidious to specialise. Perhaps an exception to this would he to mention Mrs Bontell’s comic recitation which elicited the greatest applause. The one in which she depicts a young lady whose sole accomplishment on the piano consisted of “Poor Old Joe,” and which she rendered as a polka, a waltz, and finally as a funeral dirge, brought down the house. Every item was encored, and after a plentiful supper the usual vote of thanks and three hearty cheers was proposed by Mr Harley in his usual urbane manner, and given with vim by the inmates, and concluded with the National Anthem. The Rev. A. Harding (the visitor) should be especially thanked for his efforts in organising these concerts for the entertainment of the inmates of these homes, many of whom are pdTiently waiting “The Last Post.” The entertainers were Messrs E. Harrison, T. Forrester, T. Wilson, Mesdames M. Lormie, E. Smith, D. Laurie, and Bontell.
