CHRISTCHURCH, November 17. * To-doy was the first sole at Addington for a fortnight, none having been held during the recent carnival week. Store sheep: A fair-sized entry was forward, a great increase in shorn sheep being noticeable. Hoggets in the wool sold at good prices, and wethers out of wool sold rather unevenly, though the tendency was to advance as the sale progressed. ‘Ewes and lambs showed little change from last sale, although they sold more freely. demand at the outset was fair, but the figures slipped back to from 10s to £1 per head, with the least depreciation noticeable for good class cows. Prime medium-weight beef sold at from 38s to 40s; heavy prime 34s to 355; beet heifer 34s to 395; good cow beef 33s to 365, medium quality steers 30s to 335, and rough down to 26s per 1001 b. Slov- cattle; A yarding of about 200 head medium sorts, chiefly cows and heifers, of fair quality. A few medium steers were included. Prices were unchanged. Pigs: A penning of 116 fats and ‘•37 stores. Heavy baconers were down 5s per head, but medium baconers and porkers were at par. The yarding of stores was very big. Brood sows realised up to £8 10s, but other classes of store pigs were easier by 5s a head. WAIKATO MARKET REPORT . The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— Reef The market is considerably easier, especially- l'or ox beef, a drop of three to four shillings per XOOlb having taken placo since our last fortnightly report- prime ox making 32s 6d per 100, and cow and heifers 28s. Fat sheep— Good yarding are coming forward, with prices firm for prime ewes, wethers and hoggets. Fat lambs are in demand, with butchers at prices equal to Od. No export prices are out yet. Store sheep— There is a good inquiry for all classes of stores, especially hoggets and circs with ravins. Shorn wethers aro wanted, but owing to the continued wet weather not many lines are offering. Store cnttle— A good demand exists for all classes, especially 2,3, and 4-ycar steers, also good empty cows, and choice yearling Jersey cross heifers. Hairy eattie—Very few good t-ows and heifers are offering, with fair competition for good sorts. Pigs—The market is , easier for fats, prices being equal to sjd.
