ST. FRANCIS HALL

TUG-OF-WAR TOURNAMENT A grand carnival and tug-of-war tournament will be opened by His Grace Archbishop Redwood, at St. Francis’s Hall, Hill street, at 8 o’clock this evening. Altogether twenty teams have entered for the tug-of-war contests and each evening four teams will pull against one another. Besides these contests a dancing display by Wellington teachers will be given nightly. At 9.30 each evening a grand spectacular military . scena entitled “The Parade of the Black and White Ponies,” designed and arranged by Mr Joe Knowsley, will take place. Also there will be numerous . stalls, sideshows and entertainments of all kinds, while Rudolph’s Orchestro will supply the necessary music.
