PORT NICHOLSON SEA' SCOUTS
A very interesting ceremony was witnessed on Saturday afternoon at the Boat Harbour when the Port Nicholson troop of Sea Scouts launched their new boat, “Gordon Campbell, V.C.,” kindly presented by Mr W. A. J. Dutch and friends, chairman of file troop committee. The district commissioner, Sir A. W. Robin, kindly performed the ceremony by explaining the name of “Gordon Campbell, V.C..” ,as detailed by the late Gover-nor-General, who so kindly suggested the name when asked by District Scoutmaster Gilbert /or a suitable name for a Scout boat. The trauitions banded down by Gordon Campbell’s exploits are such that ■appeal to boys, and liis name must live as a worthy member of the Scouting world. Members of the troop com mittee were present, ns well ns the Collingwood Sea Scout troop, wfio also are in need of a new boat, and it is hoped some good Samaritan will follow in Mr Diftch’s kind lead. ' Built by Mr Jukes of Balona Bay, Wellington, the’ new craft is 20ft overall, 6ft beam, 2ft 6in depth with cen-tre-hoafd., but specially designed by Messrs Gilbert MeCullum and Peterson for rowing and safe sailing for Bey Scout*, *
