Platts, n New Zealand stipendiary magistrate, iias arrived at Sydney by the steamer Ville tie Verdun from Europe. ' Mr Platts investigated the possibility of Dominion subjects entering the Diplomatic Service and other professions, in view of the changed status of the Dominions. He said that the Diplomatic Service was closed to the Dominions, and access to the Citjl Service in London was about as difficult. It wns easier to enter the Army or the Navy. He found the professions in Britain overcrowded, and the sons of professional men were now often looking to the Dominions for a livelihood.
