PETONE RIFLE CLUB The Petone Rifle Club fired the third competition in the first series and championship competitions at Trentham on Saturday. Although very unsettled in the morning, the weather was fine in the afternoon, and the conditions for shooting were fairly good. The somewhat changeable wind required very careful attention, however. At 300 yards E. Ballinger, A. Ballinger and A. O'Donnell each made 46, followed by several 4o*s. At 500 vards Captain H. Simmortds and W. H. Ballinger each made 47, E. Ballinger 46, and several others following with 45. W. H. Ballinger and E. Ballinger, with 92 each, were , highest scorers for the day. E. Ballinger won the A spoon and F. Williams and O. Pedersen the B

The weekly competition for the J and P badges was very keen, and resulted in a win for W. McTver’s team with 438 points (A. O'Donnell *9l, O. Pedersen 89, W. Mclver 88. N. Craig 88, C. Lusty 82). followed by T. Warburton's team 436 points, and W. H. Ballinger's team 434 points. The ranges next Saturday are 500 and 600 yards.
