McVilly). in moving the adoption of the annual report and bal-ance-sheet at last night’s annual meeting of the council Mr, McVilly commented on the fact that the year just ended had been a notable one both athletically and financially. "In regard to athletics we were fortunate in having two. great American runners touring the country in Lloyd Hahn and Jacksen V. Scholz. who did very much on the field of sport in coaching our young athletes, and above all presented Rose with an opportunity of demonstrating who at good mon over a mile he is.” The speaker referred to Rose’s success against the American Hahn, and briefly reviewed his tour abroad. “Possibly some were disappointed at the showing Rose put np whiles overseas, hut we conld hardly expect him to reproduce "his New Zealand form in the short time he was overesas.” In conclusion, Mr McVilly referred to the renewed interest that was being taken in athletics throughout'the Dominion, and particularly m the country districts. Other delegates also referred to the success of the past season, and the report and balance-sheet were adopted. The 1927-28 New Zealand- championship meeting was allotted to the Canterbury Centre, and the Australasian and New Zealand championships to Wellington on December 26th, 27th, and .31st, 1927. ELECTION OF OFFICERS The election of officers for the ensuing vear resulted as follow: —Patron, His Excellency the Governor-General (Sir Charts Forgussin); president, Mr R. W. McVilly; vice-presidents, Messrs G. H. Lusk and H. Austad {delegates to OlymSio Council, Mr A W. O. Travers and lr;R. W., McVilly; hon. auditor, Mr It. W. Shallcrass: secretary and treasurer, Mr L. A., Tracey; reinstatement committee, Messrs E. G. Guy, G. H, Dusk, and H. Austad: finance committee. Messrs R. W. McVilly, H. Austad, and H. M. Franklin; overseas'representatives, England, Mr A. E. Porritt, South Africa, Mr R. Emery, America, Messrs C. G. Krogness, junr., and senior.
