COSTUME TOO SCANTY? LONDON, November 5. > Objecting strongly to the scanty tinsel costume rc-orn by an Arabian slave 1 girl, appearing with a Sheik in a song scana entitled, “While Sahara Sleeps, ’* at Covent Garden, the directors of i the theatre sent a letter to Mr Lawrence Wright, the producer, declaring that the costume was distinctly indecorous. that hare legs on a ballroom floor did not accord with tho traditions of the Royal Opera House, and that they most insist on banning the scena unless the eostumo was modified. Mr Wright declared that tho suggestion is and that the seena contains nothing that would not he considered perfectly proper at a vicarage tea party. Moreover, bare legs were very common at the smartest fancy dress balls. He will invite London County Council inspectors to view tho performance, and will abide by their decision. Dolly Robins, the dancer concerned, says; “J have worn many flimsier costumes and there have never Ik?cu any complaints before. Eastern slave-girls do not wear red flannelette.
