HUTT V. INSTITUTE
ON SUBURBAN WICKET TATTEItSALL BATS WELL. The opening afternoon’s play of the Hutt-Institute match at the suburban ground on Saturday, resulted in Hutt putting up only a moderate batting showing. Winning the toss. McGirr elected to take first strike. The trundling of Massey and Malcolm was well on the spot and, as a result, the Hutt batsmen were allowed few liberties. After occupying the crease for over three hours, Hutt’s last wicket fell with the score at 155. Tattersall, who opened the strike with McKay, played a very sound innings of 57 before being run out. Nunn struck form with the bat, contributing an enterprising 33 before playing a ball back into Malcolm’s hands at the bowling end. “Herbie” McGirr was going well when Massey found his stumps with a beauty.
