THE SALVATION ARMY

GENERAL BOOTH’S VISIT. WELLINGTON ARRANGEMENTS. After conducting highly successful and enthusiastic gatherings in Christchurch and Dunedin, General Booth arrives this morning in Wellington from the south. The general is much impressed by what he has seen of the Dominion and more so by the genuine interest displayed both in his own movements and tho Salvation Army generally, by the public. The series of public and private gatherings in Christchurch and Dunedin were characterised by much spiritual fervour, and attended by largo congregations. At Dunedin, particularly, a largo overflow gathering was addressed by the general. Tho first of the Wellington series of meetings takes place to-night, and tho general will he accorded a public reception in the Town Hall on Thursday at 3 p.m., and at night a meeting for young people between tho egos of 15 and 2H years, open to all, will be held in the Taranaki street Wosley Church. On Friday tho general will he tho guest of the New Zealand Club at a luncheon in the Y.M.C.A. building at 1 p.m. The same evening a special and private gathering of Salvationists will take place. Tho general will address gatherings of Salvationists and adherents at 3 and 7 p.m. respectively on tho Saturday; the mooting at 3 p.m. being exclusively for Salvationists.

Officers from all parts of the Dominion will be present in Wellington over tho week-end, and will take part in the congress gatherings to bo held on the Sunday.

At 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Town Hall the general will dclhcr a lecture entitled “Some Lessons of My Father’s Ufe.'’ His Worship the Mayor will preside, and at night in the same building the final public gathering will bo held at 6.30.

On Thursday evening the, general will leave for Auckland, the interim being occupied with council gatherings with his officers.
