EVANS BAY YACHT CLUB

FIRST ANNUAL MEETING. The first annual general meeting of the Evans Bay Yacht Club was held in the Kilhirnic Hall last evening. Mr A- J. ibbotson,. tomrawiore, occupied the chair, and there wore 56 members present. The annual report and balance-sheet, which were read and adopted, showed a credit balance of J 35, and club assets valued at ,£IOO. The membership roll contained 175 names. A hearty vote of thanks «as accorded tho committee and secretary for the hard work accomplished during the year, and a similar compliment was tendered the. social committee for (heir excellent efforts in raising- funds for tho cost of a clubhouse. A member .offered to loan the club the necessary money for the. erection of tho clubhouse. It was resolved to accept the offer. The plans for the building have boon prepared, and the work will bo put in hand as soon as tho City-Council's approval has been obtained.’ Tho election of office-bearers for the. ensuing year resulted as follows: Patron, Mr A. A. George: president, Mr •I. Patterson; commodore, Mr A. J. Ibbotson; vice-commodore, Mr C Headland; rear-commodore, Mr AV- AA'agstaff; secretary, Mr AV. F. Hannah; treasurer. Air .1. C. Barbery; committee, Messrs A. Eeihl, C. Adams. M. Rowell, AV. ,T. Monkhouse, J. Lewis, L. Ibbotson, AV. Callaghan, and H. AV. Newton; auditors, Messrs B. Dun-ant, AVagstalV, senr.; racing secretary, Mr Fielder; haudicapper, Mr 11. .1. Smith; judge, timokeexicr and starter. Mr AVngstaff, senr. A ‘’social” and dnneo will be held at tho Kilhirnic Hall on next AVodnesday evening, on the occasion of the presentation o fprizos won during the past year. The club has secured a six-months’ lease of the Kilhirnic .Hall,

As the business was not concluded at a late hour- last night, the meeting was adjourned till .next Monday evening.
