LORD FORSTER
APPOINTED AUSTRALIAN GOVER-NOR-GENERAL.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON,. June -14. Lord Forster, formerly- M.P'. for Sevenoaks (Kent), has been appointed Governor-General of Australia. Lord Forster is a sound Constitutionalist, and is- regarded as n capablfe administrator. Ho played cricket against the Australians during their visits to England. SYDNEY, June 14.
Mr Hughes has received confirmatory advice of Lord Forster’s appoint, inent as Governor-General of Australia.
Lord Forster (then 31 r IV. H. Forster) sat in the House of Commons as member for l Sevenoaks since 1892. Since 1915 he has been Financial Sec-a-oba.ry to the War Office and a member of the Army Council. . He was educated at Eton' and New College, Oxford; and in cricket played in the Eton eleven, the Oxford cloven, and for Gentlemen v. Players. He was married jn 1890 to the daughter pf Lord Montagu of Beaulieu.
