WAR MEMORIAL
DEFINITE SCHEME IN CHRISTCHURCH. TEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, June 11. Tlie question of a war memorial has been exercising the minds of the citizens of Christchurch for a considerable time past, and at a public meeting some months ago it was decided to erect as a war memorial a Hall of Memories, this being in accordance with the wish of returned soldiers. Some, sections of the community did not favour the idea of a hall and advocates of a Bridge of Remembrance over the Avon, in Cashel street, and a column in Cathedral square held meetings and decided to push these projects. Negotiations with the Citizens/ Committed followed, and at a joint meeting held to-dav it was decided to drop the scheme for a Hall of Memories and go ahead with the other two schemes.
