Signor Nitti’s resignation evoked a general strike in Apulia, followed by clashes between the crowd and .the troops. The latter fired volleys, and wounded fifty people. The public services are paralysed, and troops aro patrolling tbc streets -with machinepuns. The strike has extended over tho whole province.
