YOUNG MAN CHARGED

A young man, Arthur Miles-(Mr P. .T. O’Regan), was brought before, tho Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) at tho Supremo Court yesterday charged with a. breach of the' terms of a. probation order. It was stated that the. accused was convicted of theft on August 6th. iniT, and admitted to probation, and that on April Ist last the period was further extended for two rears, a condition being that bo' reported regularly to tho probation officer and remained in employment approved of bv him. This ho had failed to do in that he had given up certain work, and come to town, whore he had been drinking freely. After reconsidering the matter, His Honour ordered that Milos-he detained for reformative treatment for a period not exceed'a a- eighteen months.
