On the motion of Mr Dean it was decided to reconsider the entrance charge to the' North v. South Island maten. The matter will he discussed at the next meeting of the committee. . Mr Jones moved that a second -North against South Island representative match be played at Christchurch. Mr Jones said that he was anxious to see a match played in -Christchurch in the interest of the prame. The game could le played on Juno 23rd, the Prince of Wales Birthday, and in honour of the recent visit of the Prince to New Zoalnd, the Mayor of Christchurch might be asked to declare a half-holiday for the match. Mr Piki said he had a communication from Christchurch stating that the union was disappointed at not getting the match played there, but would bo pleased to have a mid-week game. Mr Jones said it would only mean an additional two days to the team, and an extra expense of £~o, and he believed that a gate of £3OO would be obtained. Mr Paton said the players themselves had an objection to playing too many games. Mr Dean stated that sport was a good thing, but the employers deserved considcr&tion. A tour of New Zealand and Australia would probably take six weeks, and very few employers could afford to allow their employees to bo away for that length of time. The chairman said the financial aspect had to be considered, and any loss had to be met by the executive, _ The delegates were in favour of the resolution, but in the interests of the players it was not thought advisable to play a match at Christchurch, and the motion was lost. » CURTAIN-RAISER.
