INTERESTING DAY AT ASHBURTON.
PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. ' ASHBURTON, Juno 10. General Birdwood was welcomed by the Mayor (Mr Galbraith), Colonel Studholme, and Major Orr, and then motored to the, trotting meeting and witnessed a race. Eater, at the civic reception in town, he received an enthusiastic greeting from a largo crowd. At General Birdwood’s request a whole holiday was granted the school children for to-morrow. After luncheon General Birdwood went south in the second express.
