- BIG EXHIBITION SUPPORT PROMISED FROM " OVERSEAS. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright Reuter’s Telegram. . LONDON, Juno 8. The Lord Mayor presided at a large meeting at the Mansion House in connection with Imperial trade relations and the forthcoming British Exhibition. Ho read a letter from the Prince of Wales, president of tho General Committee, stating that the Government had decided to introduce a bill providing £IOO,OOO to_ the Exhibition Guarantee Fund, conditionally on at . least half-a-million, sterling being raised ns a guarantee. The Prince hoped ■ that at-least a million sterling would bo guaranteed. Lord Milner urged that the oxliibition must he on a vast scale befitting ~ the Empire, and thoroughly characteristic of the resources of the Empire. • Ho emphasised that the exhibition ■ must have a social and national, as well as an economic value, and make for tho interdependence of the various parts of the Commonwealth. Sir George Perley, High Commissioner for Canada, "promised tho hearty support of Canada. 'Mr W. A. AA'atfc, Treasurer of the Australian Commonwealth, - moved a resolution cordially endorsing the proposal to hold the exhibition in Lonr don in 1923. Sir Robert Home (president of the 1, Board of Trade) said the Board of „ Trade-and other Government departments were determined to give the exhibition every support in their power. He emphasised the necessity for in — , everv way developing the markets for British products. The motion was earned with two ■' dissentients.
