The council is gratified at the ready response ot the S.I. Romney breeders to 30m this association. East rear it was recorded that only 33 S.I. flocks were not associated with ns, since then practically the whole of these flocks have applied for registration, and at last your, council is in the position to state that for the first time in the history of stud sheep breeding in New Zealand all the ix*gistered flocks of this ’breed in the i)o----minion are to be found in one volume, no mean achievement when it is remembered the many difficulties winch confronted the association in reaching this ilMult. The Whdeler Memorial Shield for the best Eomne- ram bred-in New Zealand was competed for at the Hawke’s Bav A. and P. spring show, and the association’s championship shields for the best ram and ewe wore presented for oompdbition at the Auckland and Otago A. and P. Association’s shows. It is satisfactory to know that in both islands these classes drew large entries. Your council has had the/ question of overseas advertising before it during the year. There is no doubt that a large market is open for- Romney sheep both in North and South America, but owing to the present shipping difficulties in obtaining freights to the most snitab. porta It is inadvisable to plan any advertising scheme until the facilities forshipping sheep are available. As soon as any' prospects in this direction are seen, the council will take the matter up- " ■"
