TECHNICAL SCHOOL
PETONE BOARD OF MANAGERS,
At the monthly meeting of. the Petone Technical School Board of' Managers there were present-: Mr D. McKenzie (chairman), and Messrs D. S. Uedingficld, H. Baldwin, W. Cox, and W. B. Nicholson.
Comment was again made on the loss the managers had sustained by the removal from the board of the representatives of several contributing bodies. It wag decided to ask the member for the district to endeavour to have the old system _ reverted to, whereby each contributing body had a right to representation. Mr H. Baldwin suggested that the Hutt Technical Classes Committee should hare representation on the board. The secretary was instructed to look into the matter. The director reported favourably on the establishing of a ‘ hoot-repairing class, and it was decided to commence tho class as early as possible, Mr London, with the chairriian and secretary, being appointed a committee for the purpose. Tho director gave a comprehensive report on salaries paid. In four cases it was decided to give small increases and leave the other cases for future consideration. It was held by several members of the board that although the salaries paid in Petono compared more than favourably with those paid elsewhere, it could not bo hold that they wore adequate. Tho very fluctuating revenue made tho raising of salaries a very difficult question. The director was thanked for his reports.
