Arrangements have hcen made for Jlr Justice Ewing, of Tasmania, to act as a Royal Commissioner to inquire into the" cases of the dozen imprisoned Industrial Workers of the World, with wide powers, to review old and new evidence, and decide whether the convictions are to he sustained or whether the sentences are excessive. In December, 1917, twelve members of the Industrial Workers of the World wore sentenced to terms of imprisonment ranging from five to fifteen years on charges of conspiracy in connection with a number of fires which occurred in Sydney. The names of the prisoners are:—Charles Reeve (30), native of England; Thomas Glynn (35), Ireland; .P.otcr Larkin (45), Ireland- John Hamilton (42), (Victoria; Bernard Dopant (25), England: Donald McPherson (29), Scotland; William Teen (30), Tasmania: William Beatty (JO), England; Morris Joseph Fagin U 0), Russia; Donald Grant (27), Scotland; Thomas Moore (34), New Zealand; John Benjamin King (46), Canada.
