PROBLEMS OF DEFENCE
COMMITTEE SET VP
TO CO-OPERATE WITH MINISTER.
It is officially announced that approval has been given for the Betting up of a committee of Defence to consider and report confidentially to the Minister for Defence on problems of Defence and important policy questions connected therewith. 'The committee is constituted as follows—'President, Major-General Sir IS. • W. c. Chaytor, K.C.M.G., KCY.O., C. 8., A.D.C.; members, Maior-Gcneral Sir A. H. Russell, K.C.8., K.C.M.G., A.D.C., MajorGeneral Sir A. Vi, Rohm, K.C.M.G., a B Brigadier-General G. S. Richardson, C. 8., C.M.G., C.8.E., Communder T. A. Williams, C.B.i, RN-. Colonel J. ICsson, C.M..G.* sccrotury, Lieutenant-Colonel R- B. Smythc, D.S.O. ~ , The committee has power to add to its number and to call experts to give evidence. . The functions of the committee nro; _To consider questions and elaborate plans of defence from the point of view of—The Military Forces, the Naval Forces, the Air Force, Imperial Defence; to advise the Minister regarding the allocation of funds to he devoted to defence; to obtain and collate information from tho various departments of State; to prepare any documents required by the Minister; to furnish such advice as might he given; to keep adequate records for the -permanent information of the Minister.
