The consecration of the Right Rev. Dr Whyte as Bishop of Dunedin and Eight Rev. Dr Liston as CoadjutorBishop of Auckland, will take place in St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Dunedin, on a date yet to he decided.

Mr J- D. Gray, Secretary to tho External Affairs Department, left Samoa by the Navua op Tuesday, on his return to New Zealand. He is expected to reach Wellington in about a fortnight’s time.

The following promotions and appointments in the Public Trust Office are announced: —S. J. Smith", assistant chief accountant, Hoad Office; H. G. Shakes, district manager at Sydenham; W. J. Forsyth, district manager at Newmarket.

Mr S. S. Myers, who intends to leave Dunedin shortly on a holiday trip to Honolulu, has been presented with a well-filled cigar-case and holder by the Otago Football Association. Mr Myers has been president of the asso ciatioa for many years.

Mr h. A. Stringer, Registrar of Canterbury College, and Mr M. Dalzell. Inspector of Reserves, are at present inspecting the college reserves m South Canterbury. They will return to Christchurch at ins end of the week.

Tho late Mr Frank Dunkley, the supervisor to the Public Works Department, who lost his life in the recent floods in the King County, was the eldest son of Mr A. Dunkley, of Christchurch. He was educated at tho Christchurch Boys' High School, and during the war served as a non-com-missioned officer with the New Zealand Tunneling Corps. He leaves a widow and family.

Tlio Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew congregations of tho British Empire, Dr Hertz, will leave England in October next on a visit to Canada, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. He will probably be accompanied by the vice-president of the United Synagogue, London, Mr Albert M. Woolf. This will bo the first occasion on which tho holder of the office of Chief Rabbinate has left the British Isles.

Mr H. M. Skeot, Commissioner of Crown Lands and Chief Surveyor in Auckland, has . been appointed Sur-veyor-General for the Dominion. Mr Skcet has had 4o years’ service with the department in Taranaki, West Coast, Southland, and Auckland. He has risen from the position of assis-tant-surveyor to the head of the department. He will be succeeded at Auckland by Mr 6. H. Bullard, Commissioner of Crown Lands and Chief Surveyor at New Plymouth. Mr Bullard’s'place will be. taken by Mr H. J. Lowe, who now holds a similar position at Blenheim.

On the eve of his departure _ fot Sydney, where he tabes up a position in the head office of the Fuller Proprietary, Mr Raymond Fuller, house manager of His Majesty’s Theatre, was f.trowelled by the theatre staff. On behalf of his colleagues Air Charles Watson presented Air Fuller with a solid silver cigarette case, inscribed, and in doing so paid a well-deserved tribute to the recipient, who. he said, had made himself most popular with all. Mr J. Porter, stage manager, also testified to the excellent qualities of Mr Fuller, who suitably replied. Mr F. Boland succeeds Mr Fuller at His Majesty’s.
