TUB LYALL BAY CLUB. A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. In tho annual report of the directors cl the Lyall Bay Bowling and Tennis Club, which is to bo piesented to tho annual meeting next week, it is stated that tho expenditure loft a surplus ol MIS 10s Id. , The report proceeds;—“The incoming directors will have to reconsider the question of tho rent for next season, as tho amount received from tho ground is quite inadequate. The Ladies' Croquet Club, consisting of 17 members, had rheuse of tho croquet lawn during the season, hut the attendance was confined to a few members only. It is hoped that a little more enthusiasm will be shown next season. The thanks of the club are duo to tho entertainment commiittoo, qspociady Mi McKenzie, for their efforts in up the, standard of catering for tho refreshments of thevi si tors, who fully appreciated their efforts. Mrs McKenzie has supervised tho afternoon teas during the season at much, inconvenience to herself, and was also in charge of the tournament luncheon and afternoon teas, assisted by Mesdames Ryder and Martin, which were a credit to all concerned. .As a slight token of the appreciation of the members for their valuable services, Mrs McKenzie was presented with a croquet mallet suitably engraved. The thanks of the club are also due to the members who provided trophies and donations for the tournament. Tho membership of the club is at present: Bowlers (active) 72, honorary 10. country 2, croquet members 17. Under the amended rules the president, _ secretary and treasurer, and Messrs McKenzie and Martin, directors, retire from office. The directors regret that they were unable to proceed with the proposed additions to the pavilion owing to tho amount of funds promised bv the members being insufficient lor the purpose. The. prospects for tho ensuing season are good, out there is still need for more members.
