MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. THE BROWN SHIELD MATCH. A meeting of tie management committee of the Wellington EootbaU Agsopiation was held in the A .M.C.A. last night, Mr W. Anld presiding. Tho secretary reported that the niatter of non-attendance of referees at games ha<i been referred to the Ja€tei'eos’ Association. No reply had come to hand from the New Zealand lootbali Association to tho letter asking tor a ruling as to whether the holders ot tuo Brown Shield could put in a challenge to take effect in the event of the holders losing the trophy. . It was decided to again, write the IN P.A., inquiring when the case for tho Brown Shield would he available; further that N.Z.E.A. be written to asking 'for replies to other correspondence sent from the Wellington association. The secretary reported that schools had been written to. with a view to making an early s’tart with the schools competition. Arrangements for this one were well in hand, and interesting competitions are expected. The report of tho boys’ sub-committee was read. The recommendation that transfers from clubs to lower grades bo not acceded to owing to the lateness of the season was adopted. An explanation from a 3th Class player as to why ho signed on tor two clubs was received, and, being satisfactory, it was decided to allow him to play for the club oil which lie first signed, on. Tho Auckland association wrote, suggesting that their challenge match for the Brown Shield be rdaved in Wellington on July -Ith. This date was agreed upon, tho game to lie -played on the Basin Reserve. It wa« decided to request the Wellington Referees’ Association to submit tho names of throe referees to the .Auckland association for this match. Entries wore received and accepted;— St. Annes’s Club for 7th division, Maxis!; Brothers’ Old Bovs for Sth X! division,. Brooklyn Club for sth B, division. The Wellington Rugby League notified that the goat posts on their ground at Petono would be padded so as to safeguard players on the Association, ground adjoining theirs. An application from Thistle Club for a bye for their junior team on Juno 12th was refused.

An application from 'South Wellington Club that their 4th A division team be transferred to tbs "B 1 ’ grade was referred to the boys’ sub-oommitteo.

A communication was received from the Diamonds Club appealing .to the N.Z.F.A. against the dccis'on of the Wellington association tin awarding a match against the Diamonds to the Y.M.C.A. Club. The appeal was forwarded to the N.Z. Council. It was decided that the agreement previously in force with the- Rugby Union re suspended players bo renewed.
