MOVEMENTS INJIHE SOUTH. General Sir William Birdwood, who loft Wellington for tho south ou Monday evening, accompanied by Lacy Wildwood and their daughter, is row in Christchurch. Leaving that city, ho will visit Invercargill and tho southora lakes. On the return journey north he will again touch at Christchurch, and will then proceed overland to tho West Coast. , ~. . His itinerary then will lead him to Nelson and Blenheim, and back to Wellington: the party is expected to bo in the South Island for about a fortnight.
