HOCKEY
HUIA (WELLINGTON) v. WANDERERS (GREY TOWN).
The above hockey match was played at Grcytown in ideal weather before a targe number of spectators. Prom the initial bully the Hnia forwards attacked hard and fast, and after ten minutes’ play Keys (Hnia) had drawn first blood with a good shot. I—o1 —0 Play was of an even nature for some minutes, when Smith (Wanderers) broke away and scored a good goal. I —l. Before the call of time. Huia pressed hard, and Hailwood had scored two goals, thus making tho epe.ll Huia 3, Wanderers 1. The second spell found Huia again attacking, and the Wanderers backs had a lively ten minutes keeping them out, but through good work Carter got into tho circle and found the net with a difficult shot. Prom the bully-off Carter again put in a good shot which beat tho Greylown goalie. s—l. This reverse put the Wanderers on their mettle, and with a quarter of an hour to go they set out for the ITuia goal. Within ten minutes Feist. (Wanderers), who played a good game, had scored three goals, making the score, .Huia 5, Wanderers 4. There was no alteration to the score when tho whistle went for time. \Tr E- Wallace, who travelled with tho Hnia. team, controlled the game. After the niatqh the teams were entertained by the. local residents, and the Huia members speak highly of the treatment accorded them.
