THE AUCKLAND MEETING. LOCHELLA SCORES IN FINE STYLE. GLEN CANNY WINS AGAIN. FEE PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, June 7. The Auckland Racing Club’s winter meeting was continued at Ellerslie today. The going was in a heavy state from the recent, rains and fog enveloped the course early in the day, but it cleared before the first race came on. There was a largo attendance and the totalisator handled .£65.155. giving .21-17,553 for tho two days as against .£l-10,201 for the same two days last year. Maira was leading up tho hill the last time round, but attefc crossing the post and rails Totara Jack took command and ho came on and won by ten lengths, with 150 yards between second and third. In an interesting finish Royal Abbey got up next the rails and won by three quarters of a length, with half a length between second and third. Time, Imin 47 2-5-sec.

She was still in front at the seventh hurdle, where Kauri King challenegd. Kauri King led once past the last. hurdle, and in an exciting race home he won by half a length from Rekanui. who was separated by -a similar distance from Gluetanus with Rondoon close up. Time, imin Iseo.

GREAT NORTHERN STEEPLECHASE, Of 1300 sovs; about three miles and a half. Lochella, 11 (Folding) 1 Slowcoach, 9.7 2 Old Mungmdi, 11.10 3 Also started—No Surrender 11.8, Gladfui 11.4, Omahu 10.12. Tenacious 10.5, Poneton 9-8. Glow 9.7, Garryowen 0.7. Peneton and Garryowen were the early pacemakers. The former fell at the brush fence. In tho. run up the hill the last time Garryowen and Slowcoach were in the lead. Lochella being about fifteen lengths away. Garryowen fell at the post and rails. When tho run down the hill came to be undertaken Slowcoach was seen to be .still going well, and with Lochella in hot pursuit excitement was raised to a high -pitch. They leaped the stone wall almost simultaneously, and raced to tho last hurdle on close terms, which both leaped in fine style Slowcoach hung on gamely to his task, but Lochella always had the best of his young rival, and th» favourite galloped home a winner by two lengths and a half.
