The Foreign •'Minister, in a statement regarding the renewal of the Anglo-Japanose AUkfuce, .declared that the continued treatment of China as a territorial entity can be, no longer tolerated, but will be regarded as unfriendly. Chambers of Commerce in China jietitioned the British Government, urging that the Anglo-Japan-eso Alliance should only be renewed on the- following conditions: Reversion of Manchuria to China; restoration of TsingtaO' and Shantung railways, and a clear interpretation of phrases as “equal opportunity, 5 territorial rights,” and “special interests.”
