Epon the arrival from New Eealand of 'the Union Company’s steamer Raimi (Kauri?) she was fumigated. Subsequently Mr Carter, the chief steward, and Mr Nixon, the watchman 'were found fatally asphyxiated in the engineer’s cabin. They had apparently closed the door owing to tho cold before tho fumes escaped.
