The Court of Inquiry into the loss iof' the -steamer Aorero found three causes for the disaster—viz., the vessel getting into a leaking condition and working loose in heavy weather, the ■pump not being jiroperly fitted, and that the captain committted' an error of judgment in not seeking .shelter cither at Kapiti or Queen Charlotte I Sound. Other than this error, there was no negligence or yicompotcnco on the part of Captain Orotty, whose certificate was returned. No order was made as to costs.
