Mr Cecil Roadley, J.P., «t Eon* Bay;' Wellington, has resigned his appointment as coroner.
According to a Brass Association cable message from' London, the title of Duke of York has been conferred upon Brinco Albert.
Mr G. L. Stewart, secretary of the Wellington Education Board, who_ has been ill'for some weeks, has sufficiently recovered to be able to resume duty.
Mr T. McCristell, who has resigned his appointment .of Lieutenant-Colonel in the New Zealand Staff Corps, has been appointed Stores Auditor, Wellington.
An old identity in the person of Alt David Anderson died at Grey town last week. He was for many years a resident of the Blairlogio and Tinui districts.
The Rev. Father O’Sullivan, S.M., of Upper Hutt, has taken over the charge of the Hokitika parish, and relieved the Dev. Dean Tubman, , who has left on a visit to Europe.
Colonel Braithwaite, who recently arrived in London, was staying at Kensington when the last mail left, and preparing for a visit to Franco and Germany.
Mr Robert Hatchwell, who joined the staff of the New Zealand Shipping Company in 1883, has retired from the service. Mr Hatchwell was the company’s agent at Lyttelton. Mr 11. W. 0. Skippage succeeds him.
Mr W. B. Gladstone has been appointed Deputy Registrar ’of Marriages, Births, and Deaths for the Wellington district, and Mr E. F. Paterson Deputy Registrar of _ Births and Deaths for the Hutt district.
The Hon. G. J. Anderson, Ministei for Internal Affairs, is to he the guest of his constituents to-morrow at Gore at a banquet. He expects to return to Wellington at the end of the week. ■
Mr A. R. Jordan, who was formerly First Assistant Deputy-Public Trustee at Christchurch, has received the appointment of District Inspector to the Public Trust Department lor Dunedin, Invercargill, and Timam. Mr Jordan takes over his new duties this week.
Mr W. S. Percy, the popular comedian, who is now firmly-established as one of London’s most popular musichall artiste, contemplates an early visit to Australia and -New -Zealand—if his five-yeare-ahead engagement! will allow it.
Mr Arthur Robinson, the .Victorian Attorney-General, who has been in England for some time, has arranged to leave for America at the end of the present month, and will leave San Francisco on August 22nd. Mr Robinson will probably call at New Zealand before leaving for Melbourne.
Mr W. Crow, for many years private secretary to various Ministers, who was recently appointed to a responsible position in the Information Bureau or the New Zealand High. Commissioner’s office, will meet many friends in London, who will give the popular New Zealander a most cordial welcome.
Mr T. W. Boddam, chief-detective, is relieving as seniorrfiergeant in Christchurch during the absence of Senior-Sergeant Cummings, who haa been laid up with an attack, of pneumonia for some time. Senior-Ser-geant Cummings is in the Lewisham Hospital. It is expected that he will return to his duties soon.
Mr D. G. Bullivari, M.P., who up to November last was a member of the reporting staff of the Christchurch “Sun” was the recipient of a parting gift from his former colleagues. The staff gathered at Broadway’s tea-rooms (it the invitation of Mr E. C. Hine, the managing editor of the “Sun,” when Mr Sullivan -was ‘ farewelled. Eulogistic references were made to Mr Sullivan’s journalistic abilities and regret was expressed- at his decision to resign from the literary staff of the “Sun.” Mr Sullivan■ suitably acknowledged the comnliments paid to him.
