Small demand. likely to go lower. , SOUTHERN PRODUCE MAIIKETS. ; PEE PBESS ASSOCIATION. ' ■*■'•.'. CHBISTCHUKCH, June>4^. Most of this year's wheat crop is marketed, and very little fresh business has been transacted this week. Deliveries have been delayed on account of tho shortage of trucks, and lines are now steadily coming into the stores. Generally speaking, samples are well up to the quality oi autumn deliveries, but in some inttances the wheat has been affected by tha weather. A fair amount of oats has exchanged hands during the week, pricca remaining, on the same level as previous quotations. The trading has, however, teen mostly . among merchants, and farmers are not cfiering supplies. Tho opinion amonu local merchants is that prices are too high to allow of trade to any extent being done with Australia. . " Business in chaff has been quiet. There, are large quantities of chaff, which have bt-en sold; still in the country awaiting delivery, but iw there is now a better supply of railway trucks consignments are steadily coming into the stores. The lack of coastal shipping still continues to -• delay tho completion of transactions with the North Island. Owing to the wWfc weather having defayed digging there ha 3 not been much business effected- in potatoes this week, • and there has been practically no shipping to the Norjth Island. Tho ruling tafco remains at £4 per ton at country stations, but a few lines have been purchased at £3 15s. Onions are freely purchasable at country stations at from £6 to £6 10s for ton. It is reported that this year's tro P. generally speaking, is not keeiping sound, and, except Tor odd lineß, merchants are not inclined to buy for export business. A cablegrani received irqtn Sydney stated that tho onions shipped to. Sydney on tho Tarawera wero landed in good condition and sold at '£l3 to £l-1 .per ton. It i= considered locally that the price quoted for does not leave i:>y margin for profit. WHOLESALE PEODUCE PRICES.' i.aerv and Co., Ltd..
