RED RIBBON AND 80-PFEP WIN AGAIN. " (Special to the "Times.") The Otalri winter meeting was concluded .yesterday in fino weather. Tho racing was notable for tho successes of the heavily-weighted division, and tor the fact that some of the first day's winners—Bo-Peep, Red Ribbon, . and Royal Exchange—scored again. FAVOURITES TIGHT A. FINISH The public began the day iv-e.ll, the heavily backed top-weights finishing first and second. Hymarty, who usually begins well, was not amon-r the first tn move, but she went round tho field fast, and was with GeneralitiWmo in tht> lead at the turn for home. In a closo finish Hymarty won by a head from Uenoralissimo, with Valley Rose several lengths away third and Yankee Dan fourth. In the To Roto Hack and Hunters Steeples, Tornea, Toddy, and Hughabye were the leaders for a round, after which Silent Dick and Paweiewero took charge. The. Trentham filly, Royal Exchange, wa<j a,, warm favourite for the Stewards' Welter. Stutter went away with the lead, and held command to the home bend, when the favourite moved to tho front; and, running on nicely, won easily by a couple of length* from Miss Land, with Sweet Song third and Lord Formby just outside a place.* • ANOTHER WIN TO TRENTHAM. For the open six furlongs 80-Peeo, a winner'on the previous day; was sent out, at' odds on. Trentham Rose and' Crucelle'"went to the front when the field was released, and Daytime got away badly- 80-Peep lay in behind tho leaders to" the turn, when she set out after Crucelle. Matatua, finishing well, joined in, and the trio made a good race of it. 80-Peep forged ahead and won by a length and a half. The Taranaki-owned Prodigal was made a big favourite for the Hack Welter, and there' was good money for Simon. Prodigal and Printemps led at the start. but down the back Bitters and Gold Screen were in charge. The. Digger moved and improved his position somewhat, but Simon was not getting the best of passages. Gold Screen was done with ; .before, the turn into the straight, and The Digger'and Simon were coming'fast. Below the distance Simon shot out, fnd in a" good finish he beat The Digger home by a couple of lengths. Bitters stuck to his work well and gob third just in front of Achillebn.
