Senator Millen told the -Ministers for Lands of the various States at the Premiers' Conference that their requirements for settling soldiers were of a staggering magnitude. It now transpires that the amount asked was £70,000,000. _ ' REINSTATEMENT OF STRIKERS. SYDNEY, June 4. . The Progressive party considered the Government's challenge respecting the reinstatement of 1917 strikers, and decided that there must be no interference -with the Loyalists who responded to the National Government's call; further, that there shall bo no reinstatements without the consent of the Railway Commissioners.
