SUN BATHS INSTEAD OF WORE,
A young man, Sydney Paltridge, pleaded guilty before Mr AA*. G. Ri.« dell, S.M., yesterday morning in the Magistrate's Court to a eluixge of obtaining board and lodging from Daisy Hilda, Newborry, of Lyall Bay, by means of false pretences. ' Chief-Detectivo Ward said that the defendant informed the complainant that he was employed by Messrs Grif< fiths and Co. at a salary of £3 10s per week, and was to receive £IOO compensation. Br these means he obtained board to the value of £lO, bu* instead of working he was idling about the bay, lying in the sun in » bathing suit, and bronzing; his skin. Paltridge was convicted and ordered to coir.o up for Benter.ee when called upon on condition that he pays the amount owing to Mrs Newberry forthwith.
