TO LATE GENERAL SECRETARY,

A presentation of a substantial cheque was made by the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association yesterday to Mr D. J. B. Seymour, lute general secretary, m appreciation ol the work performed by him wmle \n that position. T , The president, Dr E. Boxer (Hastings), said that local executives desired to show tangible appreciation -ot Air Seymour's valuable services, lie desired personality to testify his creat help to the association. In reply, Mr Seymour, who was Ki-eeted with cheers, and the singing of ■•He's a, Jollv Good Follow, said that it was just «vor four years since the association was first formed and much water had flowed .under the ■ bridge B ince then. Only two of the members of the first conference, Messrs Batten and IrimseJf. were there to-dutf, and only four of the second conference. In some ways it was a-egi-cctablo that:. complete record would never oc written of the work of the N.Z.R.S.A. He thought the influence of the association on tho country had been_ tremendous,. The problems of repatriation had been quietly solved, but not the less effectively. He would lUe to pay a-tri-bute to those who, like him, had been associated in this work. In conclusion, he wanted to assure then! that notwithstanding the new work ho had taken up, his interest in the association had not flagged in any respect, and ho would bo at the service of tho cause of the soldier at all times.
