TO SUPPLANT THE LEAGUE. AMERICA’S CO-OPERATION IN DEFENCE. , Reuter’s Telegram. WASHINGTON, June 2. Japanese diplomats express tho hope that tho United States will become a party to the Anglo-Japanese defence alliance. Britain will submit tho question for the renewal of tho pact to tho Dominions’ Conference, to be held in London shortly. Japan sees that it is possible to supplant the League of Nations by a series of defensive alliances between the principal world powers.
