HUTT RIVER BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Hutt River Board was presided over by Mr H. Baldwin. There were also present Messrs Willoughby Knight, A. D. Kennedy, M. W. Welch, and G. Bowers.

The overseer reported from the West Coast that progress was being made in dismantling the dredge recently purchased by the hoard. The estate of the late Hamilton Gilmer was granted an extension of its lease of the beach for a further period of nine months. The board’s solicitor advised that the hoard had no power to sell land purchased pirior to the passing of the River Board Act, 1910. Tho board had certain powers, enabling it to lease property. In consequence of this opinion, the hoard decided to hold over tho question of the sale of a piece of land to Mr Bell for further consideration. Accounts to tho amount of £597 9s •lid were passed for payment.
