JOCKEYS’ DISPUTE

TO-DAY’S AUCKLAND MEETING. DETERMINED~ATTTTUDE OF LABOUR UNIONS. PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, June 2. At an open-air meeting to-night, which was addressed by several Labour members of Parliament, it was stated by some of the speakers that pickets would bo stationed at the railway station gates and at the entrance of the Ellerslie racecourse to-morrow. It would be the duty of these pickets to “mark” members' of trade unions attending the races and report their names to their respective organisations. They would also use their persuasive powers to endeavour to induce intending racegoers to change their minds about going to. EllerSlie. It is understood that tho tramwaymen will refuse to run race trams, but will carry out all other duties in connection with tho tramways service. DRIVERS EXPRESS SYMPATHY. The jockeys’ dispute ,was discussed* at a meeting of the Drivers’ Union «Jast night, and a resolution “of sympathy with them in their fight for recognition of their association” was passed. It was further that the action of the Transport Workers’ Advisory Board in declaring all racecourses ‘black’ bo endorsed.” The meeting pledged the union to loyally abide by the decision of the board in this respect.
