THE PROFFERED GOLD, UKRAINE CLAIMS A SHARE. Reuter’s Telegram. LONDON, May 31. The Ukrainian Diplomatic Mission has written to Air Lloyd George protesting against M. Krassin’s reported intention to pay in gold for the proposed purchases on behalf, of the Soviet Government of ■ Russia. The ground of the protest is that a share of the gold In the Rhssian State Bank belongs to Ukraine, which Mso is partially liable for the Roumanian gold reserve which the Soviet captured. The Mission asks for the. transmission of its protest to the Suprcmf Economic Council.
